Raincity

They played our Convergence festival last year and brought the house down. They are back for an intimate, high-energy show @ Mateada on June 23rd.

“Their Atomic Dance Phunk-Rock vibes had the crowd moving and grooving in sequence from start to finish. It’s safe to say that the band has mastered the art of commanding a room.”

— LIVE ACTS

Described as “an acid trip struck by lightning” and “the rebellious daughter of goth and ska”, Raincity is a Vancouver-based Glam-Rock band fronted by women on saxophone and vocals. The five members of Raincity combine their eclectic influences including Moon Hooch, Amy Winehouse, Queen, and Rage Against the Machine. Their live shows are unique and explosive. They have performed over 350 shows since their inception opening for acts such as Too Many Zooz, Bif Naked, Lucky Chops, and Five Alarm Funk on stages such as the Commodore Ballroom and The Bill Reid Amphitheater.

Raincity first came together as a jazz trio in 2016, known as ‘Raincity Blue’. They have headlined festivals including Squamish Local Fest, Powtown Shakedown, and Forest Echoes Festival, alongside performing at Rifflandia, Canadian Music Week, Uptown Live, Cumberland Wild, the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Shipyards Festival and many more. They were the winners of The Roxy Launch Project, the Rock the Mic competition, Music Heals Covers for a Cause, and Live Acts Best in Vancouver Contest throughout 2018 and 2019. In 2020 they were one of five regional finalists in the Jim Beam/CMW National Talent Search. Raincity is thankful to be supported by FACTOR, Canada Council, Music BC, and Creative BC.
